Offered here is a truly unique 1939 Ford Deluxe that began as a two-door sedan and has been meticulously transformed into a striking custom roadster. The craftsmanship is evident throughout: the roof was removed, the windshield tastefully chopped three inches, and the rear sectioned six inches to achieve a perfectly level beltline. Convertible-style door tops complete the design. While the car is ready to accept a traditional Carson top, it currently features a finely tailored snap-on Tonneau cover and a sliding track system for effortless installation and removal.
Inside, the Tonneau cover, door panels, and original front seat are trimmed in marine-grade tuck-and-roll style upholstery—waterproof, durable, and period-appropriate. The windshield features custom-cut laminated glass.
Power comes from the original 221-cubic-inch, 90-horsepower Flathead V8 mated to its original three-speed synchronized transmission. The engine runs perfectly and features new water pumps/engine mounts, a rebuilt carburetor and fuel pump, new fuel lines and filter, and a new fuel tank. Ignition components have been updated with a crab-style distributor, new coil, new plugs and wires. The engine runs cool—temperatures rarely exceed 150°F—and shifts like new.
The car retains its authentic 6-volt electrical system, upgraded with all-new cloth-wrapped wiring harnesses, voltage regulator, bulbs, light and dimmer switch, headlights (adjustment needed). A new battery and heavy-duty cables ensure reliable starting.
Braking has been modernized for confidence: a dual-reservoir master cylinder from Roadster Supply, new residual valves, all-new nickel-copper brake lines, wheel cylinders, and brake shoes. The parking brake also holds firmly.
Fenton headers feed a completely new exhaust system with glass packs and Ford V8 tips, producing the unmistakable sound of a period hot rod.
This is a great running and driving car that is tons of fun but not so nice that you have to worry about scratches and dirty footprints. It was built simply to enjoy and it delivers smiles!!
